2022.01.29 08:16 jimalexp I hate Wallonia and I want to leave...
Half English and half Belgian and had to quickly leave the UK end of the 80s when my parents were in financial trouble.
Was called a dirty Englishman at school when arriving here.
That was ok I guess as a joke as I was depressed but some teachers rubbed it in by mocking my wish to go back.
Turn the clock forward a decade and the local judiciary as well as the press go ape after my father during the witch-hunts that followed the Dutroux scandal.
When he left the country, a journalist said he'd gone back to his "perfidious natal Albion".
There was also a work accident where I was told to go home because I was weak and I was also beat up/urinated on by thugs acting on a false rumour about homosexuality.
Looking back, this was a horrible start in adult life and my sibling's life has been destroyed too.
I only started to get out of the trauma some twenty years later before the pandemic by taking psylocibin for PTSD and it's just unbearable to look at things as they are.
Being now unfit for work, where can I get help to get back in shape so I can leave instead of topping myself?
This is not something a psychologist can sort out and I need a fresh start which just isn't possible here with the way I've been shamed by people who think this is all theatre.

2022.01.29 08:16 Kostiak92 Repeatative burnout from LoL
Don't know what i need at this point: advice or vent out, but it's been a tough love with LoL for me.
A bit of background: I started playing LoL in 2011 and was a very very very casual player till 2015 or so. I really enjoyed experimenting: playing custom games vs bots, 3v3 maps, and blind pick games. After 2015, i started playing together with my good friend both to have fun and learn actual tacktics, builds, meta to become a reliable teammate. That year, first and last time ever, I tried to calibrate in ranks and got into Silver 2 or something. Then i enrolled into uni and stopped playing LoL. I returned to it somewhere in 2018 after Overwatch became boring af and HoTS died, but rito got me hyped with kda m/v and worlds finals, so since then my tough love began...
I started noticing the same pattern every year since 2018: i return to LoL, get really excited to learn all new stuff been added to the game, want to master sertain champs, become less of a casual player and maybe start playing ranks. My winrate in normal draft improves from 30% to 60% over a month, i enjoy learning and improving no matter win or lose, and on good days i feel i play as good as plat and on bad ones as silver. Soon, i start feeling slight burnout: all games feel like non-stop clown fiesta and losing queue where if i don't tryhard, everybody on map feeds, ignors any teamplay, pings to help with drag, vision, etc., and i get more and more burned out of this game where even wins feel like defeats because your fellow irelia 1v9 the game while i and everyone else suck. It becomes impossible to learn new champs or playstyles because all games become the exact same loop i just described. Usually, i play only 2-3 hours every evening, and it declines when i start feeling the burnout. Now, i feel like i'm about to drop LoL over again till 2nd season of Arcane get released or maybe Worlds 2022, but i feel like i want to enjoy this game even just few days a week and i can't...
It feels better after typing all my thoughts, but if you have any advices or your own similar stories about how you figured out to enjoy LoL more than few months straight, i would really appreciate to read them and maybe use your experience for myself :)
Thank you for reading! English is not my first language, so i apologize if some parts are messed logically and grammatically xD

2022.01.29 08:16 ss_174 Local cloud storage performance slow via Files app
I am re-purposing an old i5 8gb Windows 10 laptop as my local cloud storage by sharing a folder on the home network.
I then connect to it from iPhone 12 (iOS 15.3) from the Files app as an external server.
The data I have in that shared folder is basically all my photos of around 300gb, maintained in various folders.
The issue I’m facing is the performance of browsing through those photos on my iPhone is extremely slow. Like 15-20 seconds to open any folder or photo.
Secondly no thumbnails are displayed in the Files app making it difficult to know what photos to open.
My Internet speed is alright at 200 mbps.
Any suggestions for improving the performance?

2022.01.29 08:16 Apart_Evening_6709 Pain a year after Ovarian Torsion
I (22F) have PCOS. I'm 161 cm tall and weigh about 61 k. I don't smoke or drink. I have been taking birth control for about ten years to help with my PCOS (per my doctor's request). I had ovarian torsion (right ovary) when I was 18, was rushed into the hospital and had emergency surgery to untwist it and all was well. It happened again last year, (same right ovary) was rushed into surgery again but this one was way worse, took me a few weeks to recover. The ovary survived and was untwisted again.
Doctors recommended that I do "fixation" to stitch my ovary in place to stop it from twisting and untwisting. (Because I'm missing a ligament that should be holding it up)
Bam done did. Got that tiny surgery done. And ever since, I have been in pain and discomfort. I can't sleep on my left side because it hurts too much. If I have a stomachache bam my ovary hurts. If I move too much bam ovary hurts. Wearing any type of jeans that could maybe squeeze my stomach, bam u guessed it, ovary hurts.
Why does it hurt a year later What do I do Help

2022.01.29 08:16 _here_ok You gotta admit if what is written in religious books isn't true the writers or makers are clever.
people won't normally do things unless the risk is worth it. there are many things people won't do unless there is an incentive like a consequence or benefit. many religions use punishments or rewards after death based on certain actions. like people are willing to die for the religion they believe in out of fear of what will happen when they die or because they assume they will go somewhere better. most religious books also put in questions people would commonly ask and give vague enough answers to make it believable. there is also the fact some even use common patterns from history to make what seems to be believable prophesies like wars or famines which are things that have always happened.
